A Wealth of Health

Health is important. There is an old saying that if you have your health you are wealthy and if you don't have your health you are poor no matter how much money you have. Yes, your health is important and if you haven't had health problems you may not truly realize how important. Since it does you little good to be the richest man or woman in the cemetery I advise you to take a proactive approach to maintaining and even improving your health. I have done some study on the subject and the knowledge I have gained has benefited me. I will be passing on some health related information here for your consideration. As always when making changes in your life you should consult a professional. In this case you should have at least one good doctor, a personal trainer and a good nutritionist on your "team." No matter where you find the health information you want to apply to your life you should always run it by your personal doctor. Having said that and I really mean it, don't expect your doctor to have time to keep you informed of all the new information we are seeing that pertains to our health. Be prepared to ask your doctor intelligent questions that they can answer for you based on your individual health profile. - Scott

Here is something I am doing for my health, your mileage may vary.

You have to be a little careful what you say these days about health products and even foods. Recently a yogurt company had a run in with the government over health claims. The question wasn't if the claims were true, the government took the stand that if yogurt helped you physically that it was a medicine and they would have to submit it for trials and testing. I eat yogurt sometimes and I know I don't want to get a prescription for it. Then there was the oat based cereal that lowers cholesterol. The government threatened to pull it off the shelves if they didn't quit making that claim. Of course oats lower cholesterol, but that is besides the point.
I heard a doctor say that you couldn't legally market water as a cure for thirst or you might be prosecuted for treating an illness with something not approved by the FDA. I had the thought recently that I could tell you what I used to clean my sink drain, but I couldn't tell you what I used to clean my arteries.
A while back I got interested in antioxidants. I couldn't say if that is what helped my arthritis. I just couldn't say.  I will say that my doctor is waiting for me to get a cataract after three back to back eye surgeries and so far he is still waiting. He keeps saying that I will get one, everyone does, it just takes longer sometimes. I don't care if it takes 100 years!

and that is all I am saying.

I hate exercise and I am going to save you $15,000.

I am just not that into exercise. I am active. I play with my grandson. I mow the yard with a push mower and call it exercise (it is a fair size yard, so see, with these two big banks . . .). I like biking outdoors from time to time. I just don't like exercising in front of a blank wall. I don't like the hassle of going to the gym. I don't like working at something that isn't immediately productive. I do like a lowered heart rate. I do like extra energy. I do like having enough strength that when I get a hold of something it moves. So I exercise, but I keep it at a minimum.
Some years ago I ran across a machine that gave you a workout in 4 minutes. I was curious, but skeptical. I heard that Anthony Robbins and Tom Cruise had these machines. I even heard that Anthony Robbins had more than one. This machine exercises a lot of your muscles through a full range of motion for four minutes and you are supposed to do it like you are fighting fire. and . . . wait for it . . .  it works! The catch is it cost about $15,000.
Some of the chiropractors, doctors and gyms have bought them and some even rent them by, well not the hour, by the minute. You may not have one of them near you and even if you do you might not want to get in the car every time you want to work out. The drive could take you over four minutes one way. I am not saying the machines aren't worth $15,000, but look at the home page here. I feed children in Africa. I am not spending $15,000 on an exercise machine if it makes soup, salads, and sandwiches. So what is a Three Steps To Wealther to do? Enter Tabata, a form of HIT High Intensity Training. Check it out:

I use an exercise bike with movable handle bars and mix it up with a cardioglide and toe touches. Check with your doctor and just tell your banker you saved $15,000
